Mazolewski Quintet live
Silesian             Museum            Barbórka
The Silesian Museum, which is located in the revitalized post-industrial area of the Katowice mine, organized the celebration of Miners' Day - Barbórka

The finale of this unique celebration was, concert of the
Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet music group.

The Katowice Mine, two hundred years old, is a living history that the Silesian Museum cherishes and passes on to subsequent generations. The organization of St. Barbara's Day became a solemn accent in the region's cultural calendar, as well as emphasizing the role of mining in shaping the identity of the inhabitants.

“Hard coal mining is an integral part of Silesian history, for centuries constituting the foundation of the economy, driving the development of the region and creating cultural life. Celebrating St. Barbara's Day at the Silesian Museum is an excellent opportunity to show the richness and diversity of mining tradition in an attractive and understandable way for young people"
Łukasz Zimnoch, Tauron's spokesman

The Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet concert, with a combination of jazz and photographic memories of mining history, was not only a concert, but also an amazing audiovisual experience.

The band's fans could hear the band's latest compositions such as Gray Day, My Heart and Spirit to All. The band confirmed that in their work they experiment, arouse emotions and prove that jazz music has the potential to destroy musical patterns.

Wojtek Mazolewski's concert was complemented by Tving Stage Design visualizations based on black and white.
The main basis and inspiration were photographs of miners/machines from the past showing their work, or previously celebrated St. Barbara's Day, so as to take the recipients into the nostalgia of bygone times and remind them of tradition.

"We are glad that we could be part of this unique moment, and the Silesian Museum proudly became a place where cultural heritage was combined with artistic wealth, celebrating the work of miners"
Maria Czarnecka, Director of the Silesian Museum in Katowice

It was not only a concert experience, but also an audiovisual journey into the world of tradition and unforgettable sounds.

This year's St. Barbara's Day at the Silesian Museum was organized by the Silesian Museum in cooperation with the Soundscape Foundation and Tauron Lab.
The event partners were the Tauron Group and Volvo Euro-Kas.
